Mouzz is designed to run locally on your Mac with privacy as a default, not a feature toggle.

Overview

Mouzz is a macOS menu bar application that enhances your mouse cursor with visual and audio effects. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Mouzz collects, or more accurately, does not collect.

Data Collection

Mouzz does not collect any data. Specifically:

No personal information is collected
No usage analytics or telemetry
No crash reports are sent
No cookies or tracking technologies
No network requests are made (Mouzz Pro's one exception: license activation, see Purchases below)
No data is shared with third parties

Local Storage

Mouzz stores your preferences, such as effect settings, enabled states, and hotkey configurations, locally on your Mac using macOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.

Permissions

The Mac App Store version of Mouzz runs with App Sandbox enabled. Some optional features may ask for standard macOS permissions — for example, Input Monitoring for hold-a-key drawing shortcuts, or Screen Recording for zoom features in Mouzz Pro. These permissions are only used to power the feature you enabled, everything is processed locally on your Mac, and nothing is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted. Mouzz does not access your files, camera, microphone, contacts, location, or any other sensitive data.

Purchases (Mouzz Pro)

If you purchase Mouzz Pro from mouzz.dev, the checkout is operated by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment details under its own privacy policy (paddle.com/legal/privacy) — we never see or store your payment information.

After a purchase, we receive your email address and order details from Paddle so we can deliver your license key and provide support. Mouzz Pro contacts our licensing service only to activate and validate your license — no usage data, analytics, or personal information beyond the license check is transmitted.

Children's Privacy

Since Mouzz does not collect any data, it is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
